The answers are already yours.Honest Me asks the right questions.

Start with what's on your mind. Answer honest questions in your own words and see what's really going on: what's holding you back, what matters and what you want next.

Honest Me on iPhone. Day 1, question one: What lie do you tell yourself before your first cigarette? Below it, a written answer: That I need it to wake up. I am awake long before I light it. Questions two and three are locked.

Why one question can be more powerful than ten pieces of advice

Deep questions reveal what you really think, feel, and want.

Advice hands you someone else's answer. A question sends you into your own, and what you write is the part you already knew and had not said yet.

Choose a Challenge

Day 1 · The story you tell yourself

What lie do you tell yourself before your first cigarette?

Day 1 · Your reason to wait

What excuse do you use most often for not starting yet?

Day 1 · The quiet hope

What are you secretly still hoping for?

Day 1 · Today's excuse

What do you tell yourself when you skip training again?

Day 1 · It just happens

When do you masturbate even though you never planned to?

Five Challenges

Start with what's on your mind.

Each Challenge has its own 30 days of questions, written for that subject and nothing else.

Honest Me is made for adults.

  1. Quit smoking

Understand what makes you reach for a cigarette in certain moments and what you actually need instead.

  2. Start or grow your own business

Figure out what's been keeping you from the success you're aiming for.

  3. Move on from a breakup

Stop getting pulled back into thoughts about them and reconnect with what you want and need.

  4. Feel good in your body again

Use deeper questions to uncover what could make getting in better shape feel almost effortless.

  5. Take control of sexual urges

Desire can still be there. You decide if and when you act on it.

How it works

A few minutes a day.

Open today's question, write what's true, save. There's no minimum length. Three words count.

  1. Day 1 in Honest Me: the question What lie do you tell yourself before your first cigarette? with space to write underneath.

    Read today's question.

Each day has its own question, written before you see it. It stays the same whatever kind of day you had.

  2. After saving: the answer That I need it to wake up. I am awake long before I light it, followed by the line An excuse feels different once it is written down.

    Answer in your own words.

Save, and your sentence comes back to you with one line written for that day. Nothing scores what you wrote.

  3. One more thing, on Day 1: Someone asks if you smoke. What do you say? The sentence I only smoke when I've had a drink is stamped Admitted, and the verdict reads So coffee counts as a drink now. The other three answers sit below it.

    Lock it in.

Then one more thing: a quick pick, rank or count about your day. One tap locks your answer, and one line calls it as it is.

Roast Mode Pro

Same moments. Sharper tongue.

Some days a polite question is not what you need. Buying Pro switches it on, together with Super Roast, and your moment gets a lot blunter, swearing included. The excuse is the target, not you, and both go off again in Settings whenever you like.

NormalSomeone asks if you smoke. What do you say?

RoastSomeone asks, “Do you smoke?” A yes would do. Which excuse are you going with instead?

Both lines are in the app, word for word.

A moment in Roast Mode: You've been invited somewhere. What are you already rearranging around your next cigarette? The picked line, I plan appointments so that one fits in before, is stamped Admitted, and the verdict reads Nothing starts without an opening act.

One more thing

Once it's locked, it's said.

The question gets the thought out. One more thing turns it into something you decided, in a single tap, and the line that comes back names it.

  • Own up to one
  • Rank five
  • Strike four
  • Two rounds, one winner
  • Spend ten points
  • You against anyone else
  • Count your week
  • Turn over a card
One more thing, counting a week: How often this week did you skip one you'd normally smoke? Seven become 364 a year, skipped on purpose. The verdict reads Skip that many and even your corner shop notices, above the arithmetic, 7 a week times 52 weeks.
One more thing, striking four: Five tricks aimed at one person. Strike four. A walk with nowhere to go is left standing under a pair of eyes, the verdict reads Seven minutes, same route, no destination, and the four struck tricks are crossed out below.

Personal insight

See what your answers keep circling.

Before Day 1, a few quick questions ask when it gets hard and what sits behind it. Honest Me counts what you chose and shows you your focus: the theme that came up most.

Pro Your detailed analysis

  • What reinforces your focus
  • What comes together with it
  • What this solves in the short term
  • What to watch for over the next days

The analysis uses the Theoretical Domains Framework, an established framework in behaviour change research, to organise what your answers point at. What has been validated is that framework, not our questionnaire.

The focus reveal after setup: This is what you selected most. Pressure. A chart shows how the answers spread across pressure, routine, company, reward and self image.
Your detailed analysis in Pro, on Smoking: the focus Pressure with Routine and Company hanging from it, then the contents, What reinforces your focus, What comes together with it, What this solves in the short term and What to watch for over the next days.

Your 30 days

Thirty days closer to who you want to be.

A few minutes a day is all it asks. The questions follow an order, from noticing what happens to deciding what you want instead, and every answer stays where you left it. On Day 30 you can read Day 1 again and see how far you've come.

With Pro, run up to five Challenges side by side, and open tomorrow's questions a day early once today is done.

Home in Honest Me on day 14: the heading Your first 30 days, Challenge tabs, a progress arc with 14 Days, and the last two days, Promised and broken and If you look closely, both complete.
The end of a day in Honest Me: That's it for today. The next question is already written. See you tomorrow. Day 1 of 30 complete.

Questions

Before you start.

Anything else? The support page covers purchases, a new iPhone and reminders.

Is Honest Me therapy?

No. It is a structured way to reflect in writing. It does not diagnose or treat anything, and it gives no medical, psychological or financial advice. If you are in crisis, please contact your local emergency number or a professional.

Where do the questions come from?

Every question is written in advance and ships inside the app. Nothing is generated while you use it. Which question comes next depends on your Challenge and the day, never on what you answered before.

What is One more thing?

A quick extra once you have saved a day: pick the excuse you really use, rank five things, count your week. One tap locks your answer and one line reacts to it. It counts towards nothing, what you pick is never saved, and you can skip it any day or switch it off in Settings.

Can you read my answers?

No. They are stored on your iPhone and are never sent to us, so we cannot read them. The app also keeps them out of your iPhone’s backups, in iCloud and on your computer.

What happens if I miss a day?

Each week of a Challenge has one grace day. It covers the first day you miss that week, automatically. A day missed after that stays empty and cannot be answered later.

Is it free?

Yes. Free has no time limit: one Challenge, the first question of every day and One more thing, for all 30 days. Pro adds the second and third question each day, Roast Mode, up to five Challenges at once, your detailed analysis and tomorrow’s questions a day early.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no account with us, no login and no email address.

What happens when I get a new iPhone?

Your answers are stored on your iPhone, are not synced and are kept out of your iPhone’s backups. A new iPhone set up from a backup therefore starts Honest Me without them, and a reinstall starts empty.

Which devices and languages?

Honest Me is for iPhone with iOS 18 or later, in English and German. It follows your iPhone’s language, and you can switch in the app’s Settings.

How do I delete my data?

In the app, open Settings and choose Delete everything. It deletes your answers and progress from your iPhone. It cannot be undone, it does not change backups you made of your iPhone, and it does not cancel a subscription.

When can I get it?

Honest Me is coming to the App Store soon.
